PING 2019

During  the summer of 2019, a pilot program  for  the  “Physicists  Inspiring  the Next  Generation  (PING):  Exploring  the Nuclear Matter” was  conducted  at  the  Facility  for  Rare  Isotope Beams (FRIB)/National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL). It consisted  of  four  (all  female)  high  school  students  from  the  Hampton  City  School  District,  two  undergraduate  physics  majors  from  Hampton  University. Over the course of one week, the students built and tested two parallel plate  avalanche chambers (PPACs).
